 Romantic Restaurants
Love in Paris can be exhausting - so where does one go to refuel and re-energize? Here is selection of restaurants oozing with romance to satisfy the most ravenous of appetites.

Au Vieux Paris d'Arcole
4th arrondissement, 30 rue Debelleyme, Métro Saint Sebastian Froissard
Truly the restaurant of romance - and flowers ! Flowers grow in profusion even on the pavement: geraniums, roses, azaleas ..... Built on the Ile de la Cité during the 16th century, this unusual old mansion was part of 37 clergy houses that once surrounded Notre Dame.
La Charlotte de L'isle
4th arrondissement, 24 rue Saint Louis en l'Ile, Métro Pont Marie
This original tearoom has been decorated like a dolls house. Everything is in miniature, including tiny tea sets! They serve a succulent menu for both old and new children alike such as the Florentin farfelu or the spice cake. In the back you will find a little courtyard with a lovely fountain, a perfect hideaway for lovers.
BDJ Café
4th arrondissement, Place du Marché Saint Catherine, Métro Saint Paul
This old-world cobbled stone street market reflects memories of southern France. All 4 sides of the square are occupied by lively cafés and restaurants. The place however to enjoy an early morning coffee and croissant is at the BDJ (Bar de Jarante) which is a great place to begin your day.
Le Kiosque de Flottant de Notre Dame
5th arrondissement, 10 rue des Grands Degrés,
Métro Maubert Mutualité

Book the table for two at the back of the boat on a moonlight evening whilst the saxophonists on the riverside below create the mood. For this romantic tête-à-tête, choose from a choice of exotic ice creams or try the Kiosque Flottant (strawberry, lime, coconut, Curaçao). Warm each other up of front of the gaze of the fair lady Notre Dame!
Lapérouse
6th arrondissement, 51 quai des Grands Augustins, Métro Saint Michel
Since 1766 couples coming to Lapérouse have had their own private salons. Two cozy rooms each equipped with a little round table, banquette and mirror. During the Belle Epoque these were havens for illicit couples. Although other establishments also had private salons, this is the only place that has kept them. You can cuddle on the red velvet seats in the assurance that you won't be interrupted as the Maitre d'Hotel only comes if you have rung him! Marriages are consummated here and Colette, George Sand, Alfred de Musset, Guy de Maupassant, Victor Hugo, Emile Zola and Alexandre Dumas have all visited.
Pétrelle
9th arrondissement, 34 rue Pétrelle, Métro Cadet
This tiny restaurant is wonderfully cluttered and dim, awash in tarnished mirrors, crumbling dried flowers, books and other bric-a-brac. Glass chandeliers with real candles descend from the ceiling, and a large fresco with huge cracks adorns a wall. It sounds chaotic, but it's actually homey and intimate - perfect for a romantic evening. The cuisine here is largely old-school French, with dishes such as ravioli de canard, agneau au lait des Pyrenees, and roasted pigeon gracing the menu. If you love this restaurant, you'll be in good company - Parisians adore it. A truly wonderful place to declare your love or renew your vows!
Le Train Bleu (gare de Lyon)
12th Arrondissement, Gare de Lyon, Métro Gare de Lyon
Classified as a historic monument, this charming restaurant echoes times of when the luxury express train of the same name linked Paris with the French Riviera. Amongst others, Jacques Chirac, Francois Mitterrand and Pierre Méndés France have all dined here.
Le ciel de Paris
Tour Montparnass, 56th Floor, 15th arrondissement, Métro Montparnasse Bienvenue
Eat in the heavens with Paris at your feet. What could be more romantic on a clear summer's evening? The Tour Montparnasse offers a restaurant with a panoramic view of Paris. The food is great to and the shimmering stars of the Paris lights are a sure thing to ignite any flame!
Le Bistro des Dames
17th arrondissement, 18 rue des Dames, Métro Place de Clichy
A closely guarded secret and not visible from what seems a run of the mill brasserie - a secret garden! Only open during good weather, the verandah is a perfect address for lunch. A hiding place for a secret love - don't tell anyone about this address!
Chez Plumeau
18th arrondissement, 4 Place du Calvaire, Métro Abbesses / Anvers
Don't miss the honey crepe on a full moon in Paris. The terrace of this romantic restaurant is the perfect place to declare your love. After you have finished every scrap of honey from your lovers lips, find a bench under one of Montmartre trees and finish the evening with a cuddle whilst stargazing!
