 Romantic Cafés
Paris has innumerable delightful places where one can share a drink - be it long, tall, sweetened, unsweetened, on-the-rocks, served in antique Belle Epoque coffee cups or modern stemware, you will not be short of choice. Here is a selection of our favourite haunts, and all have a romantic flavour.

Le Fumoir
1st arrondissement, 6 rue de l'Amiral-de-Coligny, Métro Louvre Rivoli
Just in front of the Louvre museum, this rustic café is a great place to linger with your love. Candles flicker on the tables and wonderful scents waft through the air. Old fashioned woodwork is matched with old fashioned wood games for you to pass your time!
Le temp de Cerises
4th Arrondissement, 31 rue de la Cerisaie, Métro Sully Morland
An old haunt of d'Artagnan, who used to court ladies who frequented the jeweller at the corner of rue Charles V. The old carved wooden bar retains a very festive atmosphere whilst the back corner hides couples lost in each others eyes. The origin of the name Temp de Cerises (Cherry Season) dates back to a time when a cherry orchard formed part of the old cloister of the Céléstines. So, the ideal time to sweep him/her of there feet in this charming bar is during the cherry season!
Tea at the Mosque
5th Arrondissement, 39 rue Geoffroy-Saint-Hilaire, Métro Censier Daubenton
Fresh mint leaves steeped in boiling water, sugared and served in tall hand-painted glasses. Pastries include honey-drenched Moroccan specialties made with pine nuts, almonds and dried fruits. Think Arabian nights!
Le Procope, oldest café in Paris
6th arrondissement, 13 rue de l'ancienne comédie, Métro Odéon
Founded in 1669, le Procope is the oldest Parisian café. It was opened by Francesco Procopio dei Coltelli so that customers could enjoy a new drink called coffee! The Procope was also the worlds first literary café and Diderot's Encyclopedia was conceived here. Ask for a seat on the balcony where you can have a quiet lunch under the parasol.
Les Deux Magots
6th arrondisement, 6 place Saint Germain des Prés,
Métro Saint Germain des Prés

Come and write a love poem at one of Paris' most famous cafés and follow in the footsteps of the likes of Verlaine, Rimbaud, Mallarmé, André Breton and Robert Desnos! The perfect setting for a bit of intellectual loving!
L'atmosphere
10th arrondissement, 49 rue Lucien Sampaix, Métro Jacques Bonsergent
This lovely bistro by the Canal Saint Martin has, as the name suggests, great 'Atmospere'! If you love "typically Parisian", this is your place. Old wooden bistro chairs and a metal topped counter - a true village atmosphere. The most romantic place to sit is by the window with a view onto the canal!

Le Lapin Agile
18th arrondissement, 22 rue des Saules, Métro Lamark Caulaincourt
One can truly mistake this corner of Paris for the French countryside! The shade of an Acacia tree will shield you from the mid-day heat whilst the vineyard to your left will add to the illusion. This cabaret bar in the heart of Montmartre was once run by an ex-cancan dancer, Adél. It's famous clients included Max Jacob, André Salmon, Roland Dorgeles and poet Apollinaire.
